I did it My Way!

I left for Hungary 3 weeks ago, taking along the most beautiful DVDs of Andre's new York, Schonbrunn, Romance, Dreaming

I needed a player also, because some of the dvds are in PAL.  I do have some in both system. So I collected a group of people, to show what They are missing.

I keep talking about JSO everywhere I go. I have to say it was a biggest trill for me, like I would know all the members personally, felt like I was part of Their group. Only I wish. I always wanted to play a musical instrument, never had a chance.

This is one way to show my appreciation of their hard work, the love of the music, many of them coming from Hungarian composers, make me very proud, and I will keep doing this, as long as I am able to. I really would love to teach everybody to dance csardas. Maybe me and Bela could show?? Just kidding Bela.

  1. Let me start with my hometown. This church was built  in 1749, done in 1753 but  because engineering problems the tower fell down in 1754. Had to be rebuild and finally they did opened again in 1761. From 1770 They did built a new tower, and They did cover the surface of the tower with copper. It was build in Baroque . style. You can notice a beautiful clock, that was made by a master of clocks in 1773, also showing Baroque motives.

  2. The main altar that is there since about 1780 , been painted about 1816.On the left , from the altar, there is the christening  bowl, The Baroque Church's important piece is a very decorative pulpit. It is golden, so the color indicates a rococo style. Some of the pictures show side altars to the left and to the right, equally so beautiful, built very much in the same style. I was baptized here.

  3. In the 3rd row, the building is one of the oldest in town, first the blueprints were approved in 1817, but later were rejected. Finally it was built between 1819-20. They do call it a Hattyuhaz, meaning, on the front there is a beautiful swan. The bust You see here is Laszlo Hollo, He was born in the city. Became a most famous Hungarian painter.

  4. Next Bust is  Ferenc Mora, also the city's famous writer, He has a beautiful sitting sculptor the front of my apartment. This is why my address is Mora ter. Also, Hungary's most famous poet Sandor Petofi, born in my city, the statue is in the center of the City.

  5. The City Hall is classiscal style, built in 1903, The past 250 years, they did changed City Halls 3 times. There were 12 plan submitted for the building, Finally in 1911 this City Hall has been built. Outside You can see Hungarian motives, tulips, and the Majolic design, that is a World famous Porcelan factories creation, called Zsolna. This is the center of the city, and the most beautiful building of the City. There is a very beautiful Museum in the city also, all about, what You could see in there

1. Ferenc Mora, writer, born in my city and my apartment right behind it.

2Sandor Petofi Poet, in the center of the city

3.Very famous little chapel, naturally, because I did get married there for my Mom's sake. Built in 1875-76, the style is Neo-renaissance, but the windows on the side are Gothic. This is right in the front of my apartment at the end of this beautiful little park.

4. St. Istvan, Hungary's first King

5. Most Hungarians are Catholic, but You do find some reformed, this is Their Church.

6. Little further away on the main street  You find the so called two tower Church. There was a wish in the City since 1780 to built another Church. They started to built it 1873 in Renaissance style.
7. The two tower Church ,that is decorated with beautiful statues became the era's most impressive building. Beside the main altar They do have 4 side altars the painting of all of these belong to Istvan Takacs's name. It is renovated in it's original state, and great supervision been painted in 1938-39. The name came from a Saint called St. Istvan.

The City Hall was constructed in 1728, in late Rococo style. It was severely damaged during  in 1879 the  Great Flood and it was rebuild as a Neo-Baroque building.

After the FLOOD in 1879 the assembly of the City decided to erect a Votive church to commemorate the destruction of the 1879 flood in hope of a reconstruction. The fulfilment was hindered, because though in 1883 the area was the highest point of the city, it was where St. Demetrius Church was standing. The 11th century had lived through several historical events, but in spite of who were striving for salvaging it, did not reach its aims. The construction began in 1913. In the 1920s an idea  was brought up, which was to relocate it to Szeged. This is how the Dom and the St Demetrius church standing on the same square today. The arcade today have 101 arches. Built from 1881-1932. they even renovated the Demetrius Tower. This U shaped complex surrounds the Votive Church with the College of Theology and University Boarding School/I lived there/ The Western wing. The Residence of the Bishop is in the South Eastern wing. Fortunately the fourth part was never built, so this way the Serb Church/see it on the right side/ remained intact. Unfortunately, my camera was full, so I do have the rest on video.

Anew shopping center, lots of English names, including Colorado. This the capital of my County, called KECSKEMET. The oldest building is the St Michael Church built in the 13th century. The Town Hall/had a wedding at the same time/ is very beautiful, colorful. The so called Old Church  was built between 1774-1806 Louis XVI style. The Synagogue was built 1864-1871./white/ Today, They do use it for offices. There is another beauty, I stand the front of, with also the same type of Majolic Tiles, just like my Town Home City Hall. There is another beautiful building I stand the front of is Their Theatre. The city itself very famous for Their apricot Brandy. The old man, dressed up for some Folk festival, that is why He is on the picture. Lot to see!
