Hello Andre
Rieu Fans: These are our Experiences in Maastricht the
week of our Maestro’s concerts. We really enjoyed
seeing
the lovely city where all of this took place.

We took a bus tour and when it ended you
went back to the city by boat. Well, we missed the first
boat, but this allowed us time to walk past
Rieu’s home and Castle
and take pictures. Andre's
Castle is definitely a work in process. Except
for the bus tour, we walked everywhere, sometimes 10 or
more miles a day.
We watched the sound check from behind the fence, in the
Village Square, with the
Maestro riding around on his bike, checking
it out. At one point when he came towards me, I waved my
red rose at him, and he waved back at me from his bike
and said "Hi"...WOW!
We really enjoyed the good food served
from the numerous Café’s, but were disappointed that we
could not find more souvenir shops – not even a souvenir
calendar of this lovely city. I intend to have one made
with the photos that we took to give to friends and
relatives. Also we are going to put all of the photos we
want to keep on a CD to show our family and friends.

We enjoyed our time at the Fan’s dinner
visiting with the Fans from other countries. It was
disappointing, though, that they served the meal so late
that the people that were going to the concert had to
miss the main course and dessert. We made up for this by
going to the Vrijthof on Sunday evening and enjoyed a
very good meal with friends. We had good seats that
allowed us to watch the performance on the large TV
screen and also see the stage.
I really believe Andre
outdid himself with this concert – it was spectacular,
and we cannot wait to get the DVD, so that we can
understand what he said. We thought the "Three Tenors"
were a great addition. Eat your heart out Pavarotti,
Domingo and Carreras!
This was a trip we will always remember, and cannot wait
for the Maestro to
come to Detroit next year.
