My son, who is 37, and I went to see Andre and it was a most incredible experience. I first saw him on our public television station about 4 years ago and fell in love with him and his music immediately. Out of all the classical composers, my favorite has always been Johann Straus s, so that’s what I’ve listened to for so many years. (Have you seen the movie, 'The Great Waltz'? – It’s the life story of Johann. It's a very old movie but it's wonderful) Therefore, when I heard and saw Andre, I immediately called my son and, being a musician himself, we were instant fans. When I heard that Andre was going to be here in Memphis, I was thrilled and ordered my tickets right then!!
The concert…AMAZING! Andre's music and personality can fill you with awe, excitement, melancholy, romance and can produce such a peace and sense of well- being in your soul! Experiencing one of Andre’s concerts is just that, an EXPERIENCE. You laugh, you cry, you remember…It's a feeling I’ve never had at any other concert I've ever attended. You become one with the orchestra and you feel as if you know them personally. If I could, I would follow the orchestra on every tour and never tire of hearing the beautiful music they produce. The concert lasted about two hours but it seemed more like two minutes, no one wanted it to end and Andre kept giving encore after encore. Andre Rieu, his music and orchestra should be the most well-known and widely publicized of anyone in the music business, regardless of the genre!
