Ruud, Ineke, Anne & Erik
Some day my husband Ruud (short for Rudolph) suggested
we could make a city trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. Then I
remembered the Straussmobile-taxi on the homepage of
AndreRieuFans.com, owned by Anne and Erik Buch.
Webmaster Sally connected us and.... we had a couple of
wonderful days in wonderful Copenhagen with wonderful
brand new Danish Friends. Anne and Erik picked us up
from the airport, holding high a big (calendar) photo of
Andre Rieu, so we immediately knew they were the Buchs.
I felt like a queen in The Straussmobile, hearing
Andre's music. One day Anne and Erik drove us to several
impressive castles, for the Danish monarchy has a
history of 1500 years and the many Frederiks and
Christians (kings) left us an enormous royal heritage.
Near the living castle of the present royal family we
saw crownprince Frederik (again!) driving his car. We
know his Australian wife Mary is pregnant from their
first baby. Did you know that we expect birth of 5
European royal babies in the next few months? We think
of our own Dutch (Argentinean) crownprincess Maxima (her
second child), Mette-Marit from Norway (second child
from her royal husband),Mathilda from Belgium
(her third child) and Laetitia from Spain (first
child). All of them are crownprincesses and becoming
queens in future.
We spoke English with our Danish friends, but we could
have spoken German as well, for our countries are so
small that we have to study foreign languages at school.
So Dutch and Danish people can speak several foreign
languages. Sometimes we had a lot of fun! When I did not
know a word in English, I said it in Dutch. And.... that
word happened to be the same in Danish! To me Danish
looked like a mixture of Dutch, English, German and
French.
Anne and Erik invited us for dinner at their home, where
we met their lovely dog Emma as well. Our city trip to
Copenhagen was an unforgettable experience, thanks to
Anne and Erik.
Andre Rieu is sure connecting friends all over the
world.
A little something about us: Ruud & Ineke:
My husband Ruud and me, we live in The Hague (Den Haag),
one of the three big cities of Holland. It is situated
near the North Sea coast, opposite to England. So we can
go to the beach when the weather is good. The children
(one son and one daughter) are grown up, live on their
own, also in Den Haag. After the children left the
house, we started to travel a lot. We have been in the
USA several times; we have been in Europe, Asia, China
and Africa as well. We love different kinds of music, as
long as it comes from the heart! For instance Blues,
Gospel, Dixieland & Country music. Did you know
line-dancing is very popular in Holland? I am practicing
my line-dancing twice a week in a party center named
"Condor City" in Den Haag.
I have included photos of our house. From the street-side
you can only see the kitchen window and above that the
window of the sleeping room. I want to show you some of
our recycling art in the garden. We have a very small
garden, but we love our "own part of green". The
dachshund (is that English???) is made out of two
stones, and do you recognize our beloved violin player
Andre? He is in my garden! But unfortunately he rusted a
lot, for in Holland it is raining all the time. At
present, it is May, he is playing for a clump of forgetmenots. They love it, for they are growing and
growing........
