Hi Fans
I found and translated this article this morning in "De Limburger", the local newspaper in Maastricht. I thought you might be of interest to you.
Enjoy,
(from) John de Jong:
Maastricht - Friday, 26 May, 09.11 - André Rieu opens an office in New York in September. Due to his success in the United States, his Maastricht base can no longer be the ' basis ' from which matters are regulated. "It is a combination of necessity and pure need '', says Kerstin Cornelis, tour manager and press coordinator for André Rieu Productions. "From New York can we improve and anticipate on the popularity of André in America. Then you must think of marketing, financial matters and contacts ''. One of the employees of André Rieu Productions will man the office in New York for the next three years. After the three nearly sold out Vrijthof concerts on 14, 15 and 16 July, Rieu will travel to New York. On 29 July he perform a concert in the famous Radio City Music hall, which will be taped and will later be brought out on dvd and on TV. In October, November and December he will give several concerts in America and Canada.

By Mike Danahey

In the United States, we don't think of classical music of any sort as being popular enough to fill seats in a sports stadium.
But legendary Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu plays such venues, and his tours consistently bring in enough money to rank him with the top-drawing pop acts of the day. To top it off, he has sold more than 20 million recordings.
Rieu has even had rock star moments, most recently while heading to Cleveland. On the way, his caravan was among motorists stalled in a traffic jam, stuck pretty much in the same place for about four hours. His people called local police who recognized Rieu's name and came to lead the performers to the venue in the nick of time. Such is life for Rieu, the "Modern King of Waltz," who is set to appear with the Johann Strauss Orchestra at The Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 to $60 and are available by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or ordering online at www.ticketmaster.com .
Rieu might also be called the "King of the PBS Pledge Drive Special," with 12 such shows under his baton. The relationship between the performer and Public Broadcasting began after an executive from the PBS affiliate on a European vacation saw one of Rieu's concerts playing on TV and felt it would make a good pledge product, Rieu explained.
"That has worked out fantastically well," he understated.
The appeal for some is that Rieu's performances bring showmanship to traditionally staid classical music. His inspiration for such came at an early age from watching his father conduct.
"He would always play waltzes for the encore. I noticed how the public was stiff and serious for the rest of the show, but with the waltzes they came alive, tapping their feet and humming the melodies," said Rieu, who began playing violin at age 5.
With what he saw at his father's concerts in mind, Rieu took to what he knew about Johann Strauss, who would encourage crowds to enjoy his music by getting out of their seats to waltz in the aisles. That led to Rieu assembling a group of musicians, creating the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
The formula has worked well for Rieu, who released his first album in 1994 and has steadily built his following to the point where he received the World Music Award in Monte Carlo this year.
Of his success, Rieu says what he has is a dream come true: "I always knew it was possible — that is my business plan," he said.
What he has is a tour that hits the road two weeks at a time, with a two-week break between travels and Rieu returning to his Holland home. The entourage numbers 110 people, 50 of them performers. Despite the show's size and scope, for Rieu, "It's like a vacation. Everything is very organized."
And patrons get their money's worth as the orchestra typically plays about two and a half hours of waltzes, polkas, folk and show tunes, and Broadway songs. "The most important thing is the atmosphere," Rieu said.
"I hope they come with open hearts," he said. "And I will open my heart, and we will have an evening no one will ever forget."

Hello Dear Fans & Friends & Trend Setters:  Perhaps we have started a new trend?  We first put up Lyrics the day this site started.  Another English language website started a few years later and, they too put up lyrics. (Interestingly, all of the songs they had lyrics to at that time, were the very same songs we had researched and already had on the web.  They knew where to copy the lyrics from.  I am proud of all of you who provided the lyric information, it is so well loved).  And now, Andre has added Lyrics to his site!  We can see the Lyrics to our favorite songs right on the Maestro's site!  This is wonderful, yes?

Sunday May 14, 2006   HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

I actually took a day off for fun and relaxation.  I took my mother to the Napa County Iris Garden where we saw Iris of every color of the rainbow and some of colors I have no words for.  This time of year in the Napa Valley, it's best to go early, as the weather can be hot.  There are shade trees and coverings to sit under, picnic tables for those who bring their family and food.  Most of all their are Iris everywhere.  A truly beautiful site.

So many Fans have written to ask about the adorable young girl who gave Andre roses at the end of the Dallas concert.  Her name is Claudia, a beautiful name for a beautiful 6 year old girl.  I have spoken with her father and mother.  Claudia is an Andre Rieu Fan and has been inspired by his music, to take violin lessons.

At Andre's Dallas concert, Claudia waited and waited at what must have seemed to be an eternity at her age, for Andre to finish playing his encore.  Andre shrugged his shoulders and smiled at Claudia as if to say, it will be a few minutes.  The crowd at the Nokia saw Claudia's determination, she was not going anywhere.  She came to give Andre roses and if she had to wait, then wait she would do.  Finally, the song over Andre rushed to the front of the stage.  It was dear moment for us all, but as Claudia's father tells it, it was a moment Claudia will always remember.
