Hello Dear Fans & Friends:
I have special news for you.
Allow me to introduce you to the new Soprano set to tour with Andre Rieu & his JSO! Mirusia Louwerse, 2006 winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Award,
Mirusia
Louwerse, 2006 winner of the Dame Joan
Sutherland Award, has been contracted to tour
with Andre Rieu through America in April, May,
October and December, and to record a CD and DVD
with him in June and July. She also starts
Scotland the Brave on the 17th March at the
Sydney Opera House, flying out to Holland on
26th to begin touring in April.
A Young Brisbane opera singer Mirusia, has been invited by André Rieu, one of the worlds most popular violinists (We think THE Best & Most Popular!) to perform with him on his forthcoming tours of North America and Canada. Rieu, based in the Netherlands, travels the world with his highly acclaimed Johann Strauss Orchestra and a small number of vocalists. Mirusia at just 21 was last year named the winner of the prestigious national 'Dame Joan Sutherland Award' for operatic singing in Noosa. She graduated from the Griffith University's Queensland Conservatorium of Music with high distinction plus an Academic Achievement Award at the end of 2006. In July of 2006, Mirusia received a small Regional Arts Development Fund grant from the Redland's branch committee and with extra financial support from The Redland Sporting Club and Sea Stradbroke, used the funds to produce a demo album of 11 tracks. The album features musical arrangements by Maestro Tommy Tycho and performances by the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.Mirusia, whose parents are formerly from Holland, sent the album to family members still residing there. They in turn took it to classical music radio stations in Holland and Belgium resulting in a number of stations playing tracks from the album. One family member sent an email to Mr. Rieu asking him to have a look at Mirusia's website and listen to some of the tracks posted there which he did that day. He was instantly drawn to her remarkably rich soprano voice, and followed it up by calling Mirusia back at her home in Birkdale. He asked if she would be prepared to travel to Brussels to audition for him, and she agreed to travel the very next day. Two days later, in his recording studio in Maastricht, Mirusia performed two songs, which clinched the deal for her on the spot. In fact, Andre told Mirusia he believed that she has "one of the finest voices I've ever heard". Rieu offered Mirusia a contract to perform with him and his orchestra on his tour of North America and Canada commencing in April. Mirusia is currently recording an album with the Queensland Pops Orchestra and will embark later this month on a series of performances as the lead female in the 'Scotland The Brave' concerts. The show will take Mirusia to Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane, and also to Toronto in Canada. The young singer is in fact booked to perform more than 50 major concert performances in venues across Europe, America, Canada and Australia within the next 4 months. ![]() Mirusia at MySpace
