I have received many emails with photos, stories and tributes for this
site. Something I have learned: Not only does Andre Rieu play the most
beautiful music, he has the most wonderful fans. Thank you to everyone who
has shared.
Andre Rieu has spoken of being a child, having his mother remind him to
practice his scales and of seeing his father conduct his orchestra. We are
fortunate that his parents introduced music into the life of young Andre.
Looking back on my own childhood I think of the hours of practice at the
piano, of hearing my music teacher, Mrs. Ostrum saying, "Sally wrists up,
wrists up" as my mother waited for me just outside the studio.
I have shared music with my children. Marreazza had piano lessons, while
Kathleen taught herself piano and chose clarinet as her instrument. I
enjoy the memories of seeing them practice and learn, hearing them at
recital and in parades with a marching band.
When I see Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra in concert I
delight at seeing the younger children who are in attendance. It brings a
smile and fond memories watching the innocent expressions of joy as they
dance and clap with the music.
It is delightful to watch the audience at an Andre Rieu performance. I see
handsome couples as they waltz to the music. They inspire me. Gracefully
sharing the lessons of life with us by their positive actions and
attitudes. I see adult children who have brought their parents to the
concert. Daughters who are grown, being children once more as they dance
with their mothers. Grown men taking their best girl out for an enchanted
evening. And grandparents having brought their grandchildren, creating a
bond of love that will not fade, a memory that lasts a lifetime.
Newborn to 100 years plus, music is one of the keys to happiness and music
doesn't get any better than Andre Rieu.
